Saying Thank you might be a good start

I visited a friend who works in a wonderful “end-of-the-garden-purpose-built-office” the other day and was truly shocked at the stacks of papers, books, files, DVDs, stationery and projects littered on floor, shelves and every possible space.  If you work alone maybe you can put up with that kind of disorganised office, but in an office with larger numbers of workers it could never work.

Any business should have clearly defined roles, from secretarial support to IT, Managing Directors to Accountants.  As far as the latter goes, there are many online or high street payroll companies that can be engaged to pay all staff accurately and on time, leaving the firm free to concentrate on running their growing business.  With ever changing legislation, VAT payments, data entry, validation, processing and payslip production, life can get very complicated in the Accounting Department! Team Building – Minefield

What you need?

You will need a Rope or orange ribbon for marking the boundaries. Cones or other random toys/objects to be obstacles. A few squeaky toys. Blindfolds

Layout

Have an outline of a hourglass type shape about 10-15ft long, with straight lines on ends to serve as “start” and “end” lines, and a narrow part about centre. At random place cones or toys around in the hour glass to serve as hindrances. (Note in placing objects, return to the end and ensure there isn’t particularly easy straight trail thru from beginning to end) Line the narrow centre with cones / objects (so everybody must cross over). Leave three squeaky toys in there too.

The Objective

The object is to get the whole team from the “start” to the “finish” going thru the minefield. Everybody must go thru. While partakers are in the minefield, they’ve got to be blindfolded. If a player steps on a “mine” or on or outside of the boundary, she or he is frozen. Somebody else in the field may unfreeze that person by standing on a squeaky toy. (Players may unfreeze more than one individual, but one individual may not “hover” at a squeaky toy. Squad outside of the minefield may only verbally guide the blindfolded folks. They may not physically touch them! Competition between different groups can be manufactured by keeping score of the amount of “mines” each team hits (both on the way to the finish, and while backtracking back to the start), or by keeping an eye on the quantity of time that it takes to get the entire team successfully across. If in a contest, each team should do the exercise separately with a different “safe route” (though the facilitator should make each “safe route” sufficiently similar to the other as to not create an advantage for one team).

Improve worker Morale

Improving worker morale benefits everybody concerned in a work place. Boosting worker morale means folk will take more pride in their work, call in sick more infrequently and be more profitable. More happy staff mean more happy companies, since the employer won’t lose cash due to inefficiency and lost time. Improving worker morale can be attained without trouble. Most folks prosper on feeling appreciated.

You can improve worker morale by showing your appreciation in easy strategies , for example rewarding a worker by pronouncing, “job well done,” or, “thank you for the good work.” It’s a terrible mistake on the side of companies to only engage with their employees when there’s a problem. Another means of showing appreciation and enhance worker morale is by being friendly and keen on your workers. A warm grin and a sincere question about how one is doing will in turn incentivize workers. Knowing peoples’s names and customizing the working environment affects staff to need to help. Inspiring social communication between workers and right away resolving conflict is an alternate way to enhance worker morale. Social events like office picnics and softball games create a feeling of friendship between workers.

Social interaction certainly influences cooperation and a general keenness about coming to work each day. Isolation, from the other perspective, results in clinical depression and a scarcity of inducement.
